Who may attend: Any Registered Scout Adult leader 18 years or older.
Must have a CPR card, an ARC First Aid Card or equivalent, and an annual BSA Health Record, prior to completion of certification, following this seminar.
Cost: $65 (includes “Topping Out” A BSA Climbing/Rappelling Manual)
Purpose: To give some basics in safe climbing and rappelling. To insure leaders
have proper training prior to a unit activity of this nature. To complete
the BSA “Climb on Safely” requirement. Must be willing to work with other units for Climb & Rappel activities for 3 years, and help train new instructors during future seminars.
Note: BSA now requires a minimum of two (2) climbing instructors to conduct any unit, district, or council climbing or rappelling activity.
When: Tuesday, October 7 @ 6:15 to 9:00 pm (indoor course)
Thursday, October 9 @ 6:15 to 9:00 pm (indoor course)
Tuesday, October 14 @ 6:15 to 9:00 pm (indoor course)
Thursday, October 16 @ 6:15 to 9:00 pm (indoor course)
Saturday, October 18 @ 6:00 am to 3:00 pm (outdoor practical)
Where: All indoor courses will be held at the Donald W. Reynolds Scouting
Resource Center, 7220 S. Paradise Road (I-215/Warm Springs Rd.)
The outdoor practical will be held at the Willow Springs picnic area in Red Rock
Canyon National Conservation Area ($7 fee per vehicle or current Golden Eagle Pass)
Any lunch, including beverages are self provided; we will limit vehicles by car-pooling prior to arriving at Red Rock entrance.
