American Welding Society presents Special Event -- Welding Merit Badge Clinic The local Las Vegas Valley American Welding Society (AWS) Section 135 Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI), in conjunction with the Boy Scouts of America, would like to assist local scouts in obtaining their Welding Merit Badge. This seminar is open to all Scouts 14 years and older that have obtained the First Aid merit badge. Each Scout is required to pay a $20.00 participation fee. This merit badge seminar consists of 3 Saturday morning classes that will provide all qualifying scouts the following: ? Day 1- May 11th: 1.5 hr’s of Welding Safety Hands-on Education Training 8am – 12pm 2.5 hr’s of Basic Welding Theory Education Training ? Day 2- May 18th: Hands-on Welding including all welding materials required to TBA perform the required merit badge qualifying welds. Certified Welding Educator’s (CWE) will be on hand to assist in providing welding technique training ? Day 3 - June 1st : Discussion with Welding Career Professionals and awards 9am-12pm All welding samples required to qualify for the welding merit badge will be judged by 5 local AWS Section 135 CWI’s for welding quality conforming to applicable welding code. A 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner will be decided and awarded prizes. ? 1st Place Winner will receive a complete welding outfit including: welding unit, provided by AWS Section 135 and welding safety equipment, provided by Prax Air . ? 2nd & 3rd Place Winners will receive a 4 pack of passes to the Circus Circus Adventuredome adventure park, provided by Circus Circus Adventuredome.
